Bangkok's midnight fireworks go off in several places at once: over the river at ICONSIAM, across the Ratchaprasong skyline at CentralWorld, over One Bangkok Park, at Asiatique and along Sukhumvit. Where you stand decides what you see. Here are the free spots, the rooftops that face each display and the boats that put you underneath them.

Where the Fireworks Are

Last year the city approved about 20 fireworks sites for the night, many of them hotels along the river, so wherever you stand near the water you will see something. The big displays are these:

  • The river at ICONSIAM: the largest show in the city, about 20 minutes of fireworks and drones along 1.4 km of the Chao Phraya, visible from both banks and from the bridges.
  • CentralWorld: a long fireworks and drone show across the Ratchaprasong skyline, seen from the plaza, the surrounding roads and the towers around it.
  • One Bangkok: drones and fireworks over the park on Wireless Road, from 11:55 PM last year.
  • Asiatique: a laser show and fireworks over the river at the night market.
  • Sukhumvit: fireworks from 15 buildings along about 5 km of the avenue, around Asok, Phrom Phong, Benchasiri Park and Thong Lor, for roughly five minutes.

The full story of each countdown, with last year’s line-ups and times, is in The Countdowns.

Free Viewpoints

You do not need a ticket to see the fireworks. Spots that have been recommended in past years:

  • Taksin Bridge and Memorial Bridge for the river displays. One rule from the police: do not stop or park your car on the bridges. Walk onto them.
  • The ICONSIAM River Park itself, which is where the countdown stage is, and the promenade along the Thonburi bank. Arrive by late afternoon, because the bank fills early.
  • The Ratchaprasong Skywalk for CentralWorld, the elevated walkway between BTS Chit Lom and Siam, with the mall and the skyline in front of you.
  • The 6th floor of Samyan Mitrtown, a quieter spot with a wide view of the city-centre skyline.
  • Benchasiri Park and the Sukhumvit skywalks for the avenue’s own fireworks.

Wherever you stand for free, the crowd is thickest from 10 PM and the walk out after midnight takes a while. Fix a meeting point, keep your phone in a front pocket and plan the way home with Getting Around on New Year’s Eve.

From a Rooftop

This is where Bangkok Rooftops comes in. A rooftop gives you the same fireworks with a table, space to breathe and no crowd pushing behind you. The trick is to match the rooftop to the display.

  • For the ICONSIAM fireworks on the river: Three Sixty, the circular bar on the 32nd floor of the Millennium Hilton on the Thonburi bank, and SEEN and SIN at the Avani+ Riverside next to it, face the display across the water. Higher still, Sky Bar and Sirocco at State Tower take in the whole sweep of the river. See every riverside rooftop.
  • For the CentralWorld fireworks: Red Sky on the 55th floor and CRU on the 59th floor sit in the Centara Grand tower, directly above CentralWorld, two of the hotel’s nine New Year’s Eve offers from Tea & Tipple’s balcony on the 23rd to CRU on the 59th, and our own New Year’s Eve pool party is on the same tower’s 26th-floor Pool Deck.
  • For the Sukhumvit fireworks: ABar on the 38th floor at Phrom Phong and Octave, with its 360-degree view over Thong Lor, both look out over the avenue.
  • For a sky-high dinner: Vertigo, 61 floors up at Banyan Tree on Sathorn, reopens from its renovation on 2 December, in time for the night.

Every rooftop sells 31 December as a package rather than its usual menu, booked and usually paid in advance, so there are no walk-ins on the night. Prices, what the packages include and who has announced are in Rooftop Parties and Dinners.

From a Boat

The ICONSIAM fireworks go off over the Chao Phraya itself, so a boat puts you closer to them than any rooftop or bank. A countdown cruise also covers dinner and keeps you out of the crowds on the riverbanks.

Pick a sailing that is still on the water at midnight and check where the boat will be when the fireworks start: eight countdown cruises were already on sale in October, from ฿2,900 per adult.

Two of them are our partner boats, which you can book directly with us:

No payment now: our team checks real-time availability and emails you a payment link.

Seeing More Than One Display

Do not try. The displays start at the same time, the roads around CentralWorld are closed and the trains are full, so two countdowns in one night means missing both.

Pick one and arrive early. The one exception is a high rooftop on the river, where Sky Bar and Sirocco see the ICONSIAM display and the hotel fireworks along the whole river at once.

The Fireworks: Your Questions

What time do the New Year's Eve fireworks start in Bangkok?

At midnight. Last year ICONSIAM's display over the river lasted about 20 minutes, One Bangkok started its drone and fireworks show at 11:55 PM, and the Sukhumvit fireworks ran for roughly five minutes from midnight. The 2026 timings are confirmed when each countdown is announced.

Where are the fireworks launched from?

ICONSIAM's go off along 1.4 km of the Chao Phraya in front of the River Park on the Thonburi bank. CentralWorld's light up the Ratchaprasong skyline around the mall, One Bangkok's rise over the park on Wireless Road, Asiatique's over the river further south, and Sukhumvit's were launched from 15 buildings along about 5 km of the avenue last year.

Can I see the fireworks for free?

Yes. Taksin Bridge and Memorial Bridge for the river displays, the Ratchaprasong Skywalk for CentralWorld and the 6th floor of Samyan Mitrtown have all been recommended in past years, and the countdowns themselves are free. The police do not allow cars to stop on the river bridges.

Which rooftop bar has the best view of the fireworks?

It depends on which display you want. For the river and ICONSIAM, Three Sixty at the Millennium Hilton and SEEN and SIN at the Avani+ Riverside face the display across the water, and Sky Bar and Sirocco at State Tower see the whole river. For CentralWorld, Red Sky and CRU sit directly above it, two of Centara Grand's nine New Year's Eve offers. For Sukhumvit, ABar and Octave face the avenue.
