10 Best Rooftops for Sunset in Bangkok

Sunset is when Bangkok's rooftops earn their reputation, as the heat softens, the sky turns gold and the whole city glows before the lights switch on. Which rooftop is best is a little subjective, so rather than guess, we will share the golden hours we have actually witnessed over three years of filming up high.

Some of the best sunsets we have ever seen came from Aether, where the view is genuinely amazing and the open sky gives the colour room to breathe. We have also had beautiful golden hours at Le Du Kaan, Yao Rooftop Bar and Sky Bar at Lebua, three very different rooftops that each frame the fading light in their own way.

A few tips to get it right. Arrive a good 45 minutes to an hour before official sunset, both to claim a spot facing west and to watch the sky change rather than just catching the final minute. Sunset times shift through the year, so check the day's time before you head out, and remember the colour often peaks just after the sun drops, so do not leave too early.
