What is the best dinner cruise in Bangkok?
It depends on what you want from the night. The Chao Phraya Princess is the most reviewed on Klook (over 17,000 reviews) and runs a buffet with a live band from three piers. Meridian is the cheapest here, from ฿539. For a served Thai set menu, Manohra (Anantara Riverside), Saffron (Banyan Tree) and Apsara (Banyan Tree) are the quieter, more expensive choices. Families who want a hotel boat can look at the Shangri-La Horizon, and Riverside Faraya runs a halal buffet.
How much does a Chao Phraya dinner cruise cost?
Regular evening cruises in this guide start from ฿539 (Meridian on Klook) and go up to about ฿3,800 for the hotel set-menu boats. Most big buffet boats sit between ฿700 and ฿2,000 per adult, with a child rate for ages 4 to 10. New Year’s Eve sailings cost far more: from ฿2,500 for an early Chao Phraya Princess sailing to ฿16,000 on the Shangri-La Horizon.
Which piers do dinner cruises leave from?
Almost all leave from four places: ICONSIAM (Piers 1, 2 and 4), Asiatique The Riverfront, River City at Si Phraya and, on some nights, Terminal 21 Rama 3. The hotel boats leave from their own piers at Anantara Riverside, the Shangri-La and the Riverside Bangkok Hotel. The map above shows every one.
How do I get to the ICONSIAM cruise piers?
Take the BTS Silom Line to Krung Thon Buri, change to the Gold Line and ride one stop to Charoen Nakhon, which connects directly to ICONSIAM. Or take the BTS to Saphan Taksin, walk to Sathorn Pier from exit 2 and cross on the shuttle boat, which has charged a small fare (about ฿12) since May 2023.
Is the shuttle boat to Asiatique free?
Yes. The free Asiatique shuttle leaves Sathorn Pier (BTS Saphan Taksin, exit 2) every 25 to 30 minutes from 4 PM to 11:30 PM.
How long is a Bangkok dinner cruise?
About two hours on the river for a regular dinner sailing. Sunset cruises are shorter, around an hour and a half, and New Year’s Eve countdown cruises run four to five hours, until about 1 AM. Check-in usually opens one to two hours before departure, and boats leave on time: arrive at least 30 minutes early.
Is there a dinner cruise with Indian food?
Yes. The Chao Phraya Princess runs an Indian buffet sailing from the Charoennakorn Soi 61 pier, 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, and Meridian has a vegetarian and Indian corner on its regular buffet from ICONSIAM.
Can I choose an open-deck seat?
Not always. On the Chao Phraya Princess, for example, seats are arranged on the night and specific requests cannot be guaranteed. Book early, arrive early at check-in, and ask the operator when you book if a top-deck table matters to you.
Is a Bangkok dinner cruise worth it?
For a first visit it is an easy way to see Wat Arun, the Grand Palace and the riverside lit up at night, with dinner included, in about two hours. The big buffet boats cost from about ฿550 to ฿2,000 per adult and are lively and busy; the hotel boats cost more and are quieter, with a served menu.
Should I book a sunset cruise or a dinner cruise?
Sunset cruises leave around 5 PM, are shorter and cheaper, and show the river in daylight turning to dusk. Dinner cruises leave between about 7 PM and 8:15 PM, pass Wat Arun and the Grand Palace lit up at night, and usually have the fuller buffet and the live show. Meridian, The Luxury White, Royal Princess, The Planet and the Chao Phraya Princess (from Asiatique) all run a sunset sailing.
What should I wear on a dinner cruise?
Smart casual with closed shoes works on every boat. The big buffet boats publish no dress code, but the hotel boats do: Saffron does not allow sportswear, flip-flops or open shoes for men, the Shangri-La Horizon asks for no tank tops or slippers, and Manohra says no flip-flops, T-shirts, shorts or torn jeans.
Are drinks included?
It depends on the boat and the sailing. Most include water, tea and coffee, some add soft drinks or a drinks package on certain sailings, and others sell drinks on board. Check what your ticket includes before you book.
Are children allowed, and what do they pay?
Yes, children are welcome on most boats. The usual rule is free under 4, a child rate for ages 4 to 10 and the adult price from 11. Apsara is the exception: it only takes guests aged 12 and over.
Is there a halal dinner cruise in Bangkok?
Yes. Riverside Faraya runs a halal buffet cruise from Asiatique, and The Luxury White says its buffet is prepared for all guests, including Muslim guests, with no pork on the menu. Not every buffet is pork-free, so ask before you book.
Are there vegetarian options?
Yes. Meridian has a vegetarian and Indian corner on its buffet, Saffron offers a vegetarian set menu at the same price, and most buffets include vegetable dishes. On other boats, request vegetarian food when you book.
Do cruises still sail when it rains?
Yes. Boats sail in the rain, and guests on the open top deck move to the air-conditioned indoor deck. When the river is very high after heavy rain, boats may not fit under some bridges and the route can skip Wat Arun or the Grand Palace.
Can I cancel a dinner cruise booking?
It depends on the boat and where you book. Many tickets cannot be cancelled once bought, while some listings allow free cancellation a few days before, so check the policy on the booking page. Missing the boat counts as a no-show, with no refund.
Can I watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks from a cruise?
Yes, and it is one of the best views of the night: the ICONSIAM countdown fireworks go off over the river itself. Pick a sailing that is still on the water at midnight. See the New Year’s Eve section above for the boats already selling 31 December.
When is the best time of year for a river cruise?
The cool, drier months from mid-October to mid-February are the most comfortable on the open deck. Loy Krathong falls on Tuesday 24 November 2026, and many boats run special sailings that night at higher prices, so book early.
