Bar.Yard

Bar.Yard is the rooftop of the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, 40 floors above Soi Ton Son in the quiet, leafy lanes between Ploenchit and Lumphini.

We came up twice in 2026, in July for a party and again at the end of September for dinner, and both nights showed a different side of the place. On a normal evening it is a chilled rooftop, with red light, tropical murals, plants everywhere and DJs warming up as the night goes on. On a party night, it turns into a very festive one.

A View That Faces East

The view opens mostly to one side. Bar.Yard looks east, over Wireless Road and the embassy district towards the towers of Ploenchit and Sukhumvit, and that side of the skyline is a good one: tall, dense and lit up after dark. The sun sets behind the building, so come for the blue hour and the city lights rather than for the sunset itself. The best seats are along the terrace edge and at the window tables, where the skyline fills the whole frame.

Bar.Yard Knows How to Throw a Party

Our July visit was for one of its parties, and it was a great night: when Bar.Yard decides to party, it really goes for it. Bangkok DJs play Afro House and remixes as night falls, and the bar runs regular parties and special nights, from guest bartender shifts to themed evenings. Thursday to Saturday it stays open until 2 AM and gets busier, so book ahead for those nights and for groups.

There are two spaces to choose from. Inside, the bar is air-conditioned, red-lit and wrapped in a big tropical mural, which helps in the hot months. Outside, the open-air terrace has lounge seats, parasols and high tables along the edge.

The awards back it up: Bar.Yard won BK Magazine’s Best Rooftop Bar award three years running, from 2023 to 2025.

Food and Drinks

This is a proper place to eat, not just a bar with snacks. The Backyard Barbeque menu by Executive Chef Julio César Concha Muñoz is a grill menu with Latin flavours, made for sharing; we shared a grill board and a couple of starters with the skyline behind them, and liked all of it. On Tuesdays, Taco Tuesday brings tacos at ฿85 net each.

The cocktail list, Krungthep Heatwave, plays with spice and has alcohol-free options too. The Heatwave Happy Hour runs every day from 5 to 7 PM, with all drinks at ฿350++, which makes an early start the best-value way to see the place.

Good to Know

Hours: Sunday to Wednesday 5 PM to 1 AM, Thursday to Saturday 5 PM to 2 AM. Last food orders at 10:30 PM, then a late-night menu.
Dress code: smart casual. Beachwear and sportswear are not allowed.
Age: guests under 20 are welcome until 9 PM with an adult.

Making a day of it? Kimpton Maa-Lai sells a Pool Day Pass for Monday to Thursday, 10 AM to 8 PM, with the pool, sauna, steam room and lockers: ฿1,200 per adult with a set lunch or a ฿700 credit at Pool.Bar, or ฿500 per child.
