Starlight Rooftop Bar
Rooftop Bar · Bang Rak · 21F
Surawong Road keeps its rooftops close together. YÀO holds one end of the street. Starlight, on the roof of the Mercure Bangkok Surawong, holds the other.
The pitch here is simple. Watch the sun go down. Stay until the stars come out. The name is not subtle, and it does not need to be.
Cocktails with a Thai accent
The drinks list is the reason to climb up. Mixologist Gongson Sonti builds cocktails around Thai heritage flavours, and it shows.
The Starlight Negroni swaps the usual bitterness for a galangal infusion. The Bangkok Night runs tequila through galangal syrup, chili pepper, lavender, lime and pineapple. There are planet-themed signatures for the curious.
The kitchen backs it up with more than bar snacks. Minced duck lettuce wraps with black bean sauce. Hakka-style stir-fried ramen in a house yellow-bean sauce. Spicy edamame with hoisin. Enough to turn a drink into a night.
When to come
Doors open at 5 PM, and the early window is the smart one. Happy hour runs buy one, get one on cocktails and mocktails from opening. The resident DJ picks up the pace later in the evening.
This is not a 60th-floor observation deck, and it does not pretend to be. The view is an eye-level sweep of the Silom and Surawong grid, close enough to feel the neighbourhood breathing. There is an air-conditioned lounge inside for the hot months and an open deck when the breeze behaves.
Prepaid packages start at ฿599 if you like your evening planned. Otherwise, walk in, aim for golden hour, and let the night stretch to 1 AM.
Make it a Bang Rak crawl: start here at sunset, then head down Surawong to YÀO for modern Chinese, or river-side to Scarlett for wine. Our golden hour guide helps with the timing. Browse all Bangkok rooftops to build the full route.
