7 rooftops for golden hour
The Edit · 6 min · 20 May 2026
Where to be standing when the Bangkok sky turns pink — the seven terraces that own the sunset, ranked by the view.
The golden-hour shortlist
Golden hour in Bangkok lands around 6:24pm. Get to the front row twenty minutes early. That margin matters. The light here doesn’t fade politely. It flips. One minute the haze over the river is flat and grey, the next the whole sky goes peach and the glass towers light up like they’re lit from inside. Miss the start and you’re watching the back half of a song you didn’t hear begin.
So order fast, tip well, and claim a west-facing spot. Here’s where we’d send you for the drop.
Start high. CRU Champagne Bar sits up in Ratchaprasong where the breeze actually moves and the bubbles do the rest. A few blocks over, Red Sky Bar & Restaurant frames the sunset inset in that big illuminated arch. People crowd the rail for a reason. Get there early or you’re shooting over shoulders.
Down in Bang Rak, Sky Bar at Lebua is the postcard. You know the one. The river bends below you, the dome glows, and everyone on that terrace is having the same small religious moment at once. It’s touristy and it’s worth it. Dress smart-casual or they’ll turn you around at the lift.
Want the view without the queue. Spire Rooftop Bar in Silom runs cooler and looser, the kind of place where the second drink lasts longer than the first. Cielo Sky Bar gives you the Sukhumvit skyline from the quieter eastern side, 360 degrees of it, with the sunset behind the towers instead of in your eyes.
For something lower and easier on the nerves, View Rooftop Bar keeps you closer to street level and still catches the colour. And when the sky finishes its show, Tulum Sky Bar out in the Ekkamai stretch is where the night actually loosens up. The pink goes purple. The music gets louder. You stay.
Two rules. Book ahead at the big names, especially on weekends, because the sunset seats go first and they go fast. And don’t spend the whole window through your phone screen. Shoot one frame, then put it away and just look.
