AkaAza Bar
Rooftop Pool Bar · Surawong · 26F
Twenty-six floors above Surawong Road, AkaAza is the Bang Rak rooftop that starts earliest. Doors open at 8 AM with a breakfast menu. Most sky bars are still asleep.
The layout is half pool deck, half bar. The infinity pool belongs to Amara Bangkok hotel guests, though outsiders can buy in with a minimum spend of ฿1,500++ per person. The bar itself is free to walk into, and that is the move.
Drink the flag
The signature list leans hard into Thai flavours, and it works.
SANÈHA layers Thai butterfly pea and citrus into blue-violet stripes. HOM-MALI mixes Grey Goose with coconut juice and a jasmine and honey syrup. THE AROMA is built like a Thai massage in a glass: lemongrass syrup, ginger ale, herbal steam.
Standard cocktails start at ฿420, beers at ฿250, mocktails at ฿180. Groups can order draught beer by the pitcher or a three-litre tower. One note for the bill-conscious: prices carry 7% tax and 10% service on top.
The kitchen runs long and wide. Proper Thai plates like Tom Yum Gung and Pad Thai in an egg net, next to pizza, pasta and burgers. There is a kids menu too.
The mood
Daytime is poolside and lazy. After dark the lounge side takes over, softer and slower than the party rooftops. The terrace mixes covered corners with open air, so a rain cloud does not end the night.
Sunset is the rush hour. The deck fills quickly for golden hour, so come early to claim a lounge chair. Sam Yan MRT is about eight minutes on foot.
One heads-up: the hotel also rents the deck out for private sunset events and proposals, so check ahead if you are planning a big date.
It is back on our party calendar too: the AMARA Pool Party returns to the pool deck on Saturday 8 August, 4–10 PM, after almost a year on pause — capped at 150 people. If you want the pool at its liveliest, that is the day; for the quiet version, come on a weekday morning.
Pair it with the rest of the street: Starlight sits a few doors down the same road, and YÀO anchors the Marriott end. More water-adjacent options live in our pool rooftops collection.
