Pool Deck at Centara Grand

Most of the rooftops in this guide are after-dark animals — cocktails, DJs, the city lit up below. The Pool Deck at Centara Grand is the daytime exception. It sits on the 26th floor of Centara Grand at CentralWorld, in the thick of Ratchaprasong, right beside the hotel pool, and it trades neon for sunshine: somewhere to slow down with a cold drink while the city gets on with its day far below.

What you’re here for

This is poolside fuel, not fine dining. Sweet tropical smoothies, an ice-cold beer (from around ฿290) and a fruity, easy-drinking white wine lead the drinks list, with salads and hearty sandwiches if you want more than a snack. Around 40 outdoor seats line the deck, so you can stretch out on a sun lounger in the open or duck into the shade when the afternoon heat sets in. There are halal-friendly options on the menu, and children are welcome — it’s a relaxed, casual spot that suits a family afternoon as easily as a solo one with a book.

Know before you go

The Pool Deck keeps daytime hours: it opens at 9 AM and winds down at 7 PM, so think lazy-afternoon refreshments rather than sunset drinks or a late night out. You don’t have to be a hotel guest to use it — Centara Grand sells a day pass from ฿800 that gets you pool access plus the fitness centre, towels, lockers, sauna and steam bath, so anyone can book a lounger for the afternoon.

Most days this is exactly what it sounds like: a calm hotel pool deck. One Saturday a month, though, Bangkok Rooftops takes the deck over and it becomes the Centara Pool Party — DJs, drinks, swimming and sunset sets from mid-afternoon. When the deck closes at 7, the same tower keeps going well above it.
